A Time for Tea.

My best friend, Rachael, turned 14 this week, and she had such a fun tea party.



All the details were so well thought out, and the Settle family went out of their way to make things look elegant and classy.

Favorites from 2009

I hope everyone had a delightful holiday! :) 2009 was a major year for me. I officially kicked started my business in June after my internship, bought lightroom, and I am already saving for new updates that will further professionalize my business. During our internship we talked a lot about pictures that represent who we are as photographers and how we want our business to look. Here are some of my favorites, and I really feel like they scream "ae photography". :)

Snow & Family.

My amazing big brother has graduated from College!! ahh *does happy dance* plus we got 18 inches of snow! :D I think that's a great reason to take family pictures, don't you?



18 inches of snow is quite hard to get through, and only having a tripod makes for very staged pictures, they are still cute!

Infant & Kid shoot.

I had such a wonderful time shooting the Barr children on Saturday. They were such good models and so adorable! I wanted to post all of the pictures because of their cuteness, but here are some of my favorites. :)




Anne, their oldest girl, is such a sweetheart. At the end of the shoot she wrote me a thank you note (with help from mom) saying, "Anne, thanks for coming and taking my picture, I like your name." SO cute! It was proudly placed on my refrigerator. :D

Jack had one of the cutest outfits to date. Such a little man!

Baby it's cold outside.

It's that time of year again! All the leaves start falling, and suddenly everything becomes still. I really love this time of year. It just seems magical at the first snowfall, and I seriously am obsessed with scarves. They are just a perfect winter accessory! :D
Since no blog post is complete without pictures, here are a few winter pictures that are some of my all time favorites.

It's our thing.

Back when I was six, my family went on a vacation to the Grand Canyon. My Dad had just gotten his first DSLR camera, the Nikon D1 . He was SO excited to go on that vacation with his new camera. He had been taking pictures the whole time, and I REALLY wanted to take a picture with his new, fancy camera. Everytime we went on vacations my parents would buy my siblings and I disposable, film cameras. When the picture below was taken, it was the beginning of the trip and my Dad knew I would waste all of my film before we really even did anything. So, he allowed me to use his camera. He put it around my neck and I immediatly felt SO cool. It was heavy and I could barely hold it, but it was such a nice feeling. He told me how to do it and then... this is what I got.

Ever since this picture, I've learned how much I loved taking photos, and my family learned that I did actually have some type of photography eye!


Before I purchased my camera, I used Dad's quite often, and we would always go over the pictures together to see how I did.



Besides getting my love of photography from my Dad, I have learned so much from him. I love coming to him with questions about my camera and how to achive the affect I am looking for. He always seems to know the answer and takes time to sit down & explain everything to me.



Since I started my business in June, Dad has come to my shoots and been my second shooter. I have grown to LOVE that! It is so nice to have him there. I know that if I have a quick question and need some input, he is there. For the most part, I think he sits back and watches me "do my thing" and I hope it makes him proud.

I love working with you, Dad. I especially love how, no matter what, this will always be our thing; the one thing we can always do together.
