Hand of God

I may have booked my very own wedding, and I may have just gotten my questionnaire back, and I may have realized how really perfect this couple is for me. I mean, I was over joyed after meeting them, but now I feel like I know them way more. It's so evident that God is just sitting there going "Hey ya little child that belongs to me, I got you covered. So you just sit back and watch me do my thing. I'm working on you and you're gonna love the results." Um, yeah. I'm watching, God. And I'm pretty darn excited when I watch this little business of mine grow because of His grace.

Right when I think of all the things I need to invest into and get done, God just gives me these little happy photography moments. I love being able to delight in this experience and see God's faithfulness.

Here's a sneak peak of the wedding I second shot a couple weeks back. I'm saving the rest for when the blog is finished being re-designed!

  1. Hello!
I just found your blog and saw that you have a Nikon. :)
I am saving up for a Nikon D5000.
What model camera & lenses do you use?
    Thanks!

  2. Awesome camera to save up for!
I rock a Nikon D40 for right now. I also use my dad's Nikon D3s on some shoots.

  3. Thanks, Anne!
Wow, a D3S - that must be fun to mess with! Does your dad have a blog, too? I'd love to see those shots! :)
Oh, what lenses do you use, and what is your favorite?

  4. It's so fun to mess around with, I LOVE it. No, i'm trying to have him get one though since he second shoots a lot of my shoots, so he does get pictures a lot. :)

I have the average 18-55mm. BUT I use my dad's lenses a lot. As I wait for more funding to purchase lenses. Best advice I can give you is to buy the D5000 BUT buy just the camera body. Then, either purchase the 35mm or 50mm lense to go with it. It's the one thing I wish I would have done when I bought mine. :)

  5. Thanks for that tip. But, what would you think of buying the D5000 body, an 18-55mm, and 55-200mm VR for $749, and then buying the 50mm later?

  6. Ehh, everyone does that. It's the basic kit that comes with the camera. Do something different and make your pictures stand out better by getting a prime lense like the 35 or 50.. If you're serious about photography it's the way to go. I really regret not buying a prime lense right of the bat instead of having to save up forever because I spent all my money on a not so great lense. If you're just getting into photography then you may just wanna do what you're saying, but if you're really into it go all out. lol

  7. Yes, I know the 18-55 is just the kit lens, and I don't even care about that, but the 55-200 was one of the ones I wanted to get later, then I found that combination, and that is a really good price, so I figured that I will probably sell the 18-55. (wow, that was a run-on sentence! lol)
It sells for almost $200 on Amazon, and close to that on Ebay. I figure I can use that money to start saving for the 50mm. One reason I won't just get the body is that I am buying it off walmart.com, and they don't sell just the body. ( I have close to $300 in Walmart gift cards. :) )
So what do you think of the 55-200? I know it's not as good as the 70-300, which I would like, but really can't afford right now. :( I can't "go all out" yet, though I sure would like to! :) After I have the body & one lens, I would like to get a few more good ones, but I know it will take me a while to save up for them all. :) Oh, and concerning the 35mm and the 50mm, which one are you going to get, and why? I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the 50mm, but I'm just trying to get other people's opinions. :) Thanks!
    (sorry for rambling! :) )

  8. hahaha well it sounnds like you've answered your own question when it comes to the 55-200 lense. lol
Well, 35mm is cheaper. It's as simple as that. Like, way cheaper. But, the 50mm is like a photography staple. I honestly haven't decided if I wanna keep saving for the 50 or just buy the 35 since I have money for that right now. I have friends with the 35mm and their pictures are great. I gotta talk to my dad more since he's a photographer as well and that will help me decide. :) Sorry that doesn't answer your question as much, but I honestly don't have an answer at this moment!

  9. Well, I'm not absolutely sure if I'm getting that yet, which is why I was trying to get opinions on the 55-200. It's a good price, but I just want to make sure it's not cheap because it's a crappy lens. lol. So far it looks good, I was just hoping to get a second opinion. Anyway, thanks for all the advice. :)
